Dr. Karaki is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at UCSF, and works as a hospitalist at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. She is the founding Director of the Refugee and Asylum seeker Health Initiative (RAHI) at UCSF, which aims to foster high-quality refugee health research in order to improve health outcomes in refugees.
Dr. Karaki is a founding member and board member of the North American Society of Refugee Healthcare Providers. Her academic and clinical interests focus on the Syrian refugee crisis in the Middle East and the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. More broadly, her work focuses on health issues and humanitarian efforts surrounding forced displacement, particularly in the Middle East.
